Umweltbahnhof Dannenwalde

The Umweltbahnhof Dannenwalde – consisting of the listed reception building, freight shed, forecourt, and ancillary buildings – has been maintained and creatively used by the dedicated association Umweltbahnhof Dannenwalde since its reopening in 1996.

What to expect there

• Nature experience on the Dannenwalde Barefoot Path — Right at the station starts about 750 meters of barefoot path with different stations (e.g., wooden path, "from clay to brick"). The path invites you to experience nature with all your senses.

• Cultural events and exhibitions — In the historic train station rooms, changing events take place: e.g., exhibitions, art works, cultural events — both smaller formats and larger events. Those who wish can exhibit or perform there themselves.

• Visit the listed train station facility — The old train station ensemble from 1877, with reception building, freight shed, and forecourt, is protected as a historical monument. Anyone interested in history, architecture, or historical train stations can experience the charm and history on site.

• Starting point for nature & region — The Environmental Station is located exactly between two large nature reserves/parks. From here, hikes, cycling tours, or nature explorations in the surrounding area can be started — ideal for everyone who wants to experience nature, lakes, and forests.

• Environmental, nature, and cultural experiences — The association of the Environmental Station is committed to environmental and nature conservation, promotes natural spaces, sustainability, and conscious travel by train instead of car.

Easily accessible

The Dannenwalde station can be directly reached by the Regional Express (RE 5) in 7 minutes. From the station, several cycling and hiking paths lead further – perfect for a relaxing trip without a car.
